Detroit Industrial Projects presents an installation by Steve Coy that explores what future spaces might look like.  This installation examines real versus perceived or imagined spaces.  Using sculptural elements combined with video and wall murals, the work explores ideas about interior and exterior spaces, technology, consumption and elitism.

Steve Coy works in many mediums ranging from video, installation, performance, design, and photography; often in various combinations.  His work is inspired by commercialism, corporatism, fashion, pop-culture and events from daily life.   His recent work has been included in exhibitions in Beijing (Sanlun Yishu an interactive collaborative art project), Melbourne at the Royal Exhibition Building, and Sydney at the Royal Hall of Industries.  Coy received an MFA from University of Hawaii in 2007.  He currently lives and works in Detroit, Michigan and teaches at University of Michigan, School of Art and Design.
